Time has passed and no blog from Honey. What does that mean? It means that Honey is too busy and even in the insomniac moments of her life, she has to work or she would end up panting, catching up with things she has to finish for another week. Okay, enough of referring myself in the third person. It’s beginning to sound scary and schizophrenic. This is now Honey, the first and conscious person speaking. LOL.
So much has passed the last few weeks. I have a blog/fairy tale (don’t worry Ba…not you) coming up, inspired by our recent company overnight camping trip with my wonderful and dedicated team. I got a chance to bond with them and actually hear their stories and voices (yes, one of them brought a guitar along so they were singing the night away). Of course, what better topic is there to talk about while around a bonfire but ghost stories, just so we can have a reason to squeal and scream when we hear something creeping behind us and only to find out that someone from the other camp came close to our area to pee by the bushes (okay, exaggerating here).
One thing I can comment about that little adventure is that, my ever prepared team of analysts, designers and developers(when it comes to work) must have thought that tents and drinking water can be downloaded from a website once we get there coz they neglected to bring these items to our camping site. Good thing, Mike brought his tent and I brought one also so we were able to share it with the rest . Best of all, the manager of the resort, Iggy, visited our area and asked if we needed anything, so we told him that we needed to rent a couple of tents coz if we don’t have at least two more, we might end up having some of the guys sleeping under the stars and that. He brought a couple of tents to our area and helped us pitch the tents. He was kind enough to deliver a five gallon water bottle to our site as well. Yeah, we were supposed to rough it out, no cellphones, no computers and all that, but I absolutely had no intentions of going to the stream and drink water there. What?! No chlorine?!! What about my sensitive chlorine-dependent stomach??
We of course, slept very late (dawn) and I was awoken by the sound of nature (what sound? For those who were there, you know what I mean). While waiting for breakfast to be cooked by some of the ladies, some of us found it an opportune time to do a short trek and get a little exercise (hmpf) and some went to the swimming hole to wade in the water. We didn’t have enough time to do the river trek nor go horse back riding (lucky horses) as I had to rush back to the city to quickly prepare for my defense panelist job at a local university to check out the students thesis.
I had fun in that camping. It proved a few things for me:
- Sleeping bags are actually “okay” to sleep in.
- The guys can certainly whip up a good bar-b-cue and the girls can definitely cook a sumptuous breakfast.
- I have finally learned how to use the other features in my Swiss knife
- I can actually survive a night without cellphone or wifi signal.
Ahhh, another very long week has passed. Hope all is well with all of you. Hasta Luego!
